Video Bondar Challenge
The Video Bondar Challenge is the newest addition to our youth programming, building on the success of the Bondar Challenge Program and leveraging the current popularity of videos among youth. We are thrilled that we will be expanding our current partnership with EcoSchools Canada to introduce the video program to schools across Canada this school year!
As in the original photography version of the Bondar Challenge, the camera is utilized as a gateway to learning about visual art and the environment. Students will create their own video related to the natural environment and will communicate an understanding of the scientific elements of the video as related to the biodiversity in their environment, in addition to interpreting and implementing the artistic components. Importantly, getting youth outside to explore the natural world around them through videography contributes to their overall wellness and mental health.
Program Pilot
We are delighted that Luc Filion, a teacher in Ottawa, has enthusiastically piloted the Video Challenge with his Grade 5 French Immersion Class throughout this past school year. Thanks to his commitment and donation of time, we will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of our approach and refine and modify the program as necessary before introducing it to schools.
The video submissions below are from the first students to participate in the Video Bondar Challenge!
