On this day in Barrie Ontario, Professor Bonnie M Patterson was born. As she grew — and always up for a challenge — Patterson went where no woman had yet gone before and became the first woman Dean of Business in Canada, the first woman President of the Council of Ontario Universities (COU), and the first woman President & Vice-Chancellor of Trent University.

Of course, no one knew she’d be doing all that at the time of her birth. Or had even heard of those positions that lay ahead in the future. She had to learn how to play softball first! With her future goal of playing the Masters course in Augusta.
